Agenda Movie Club: Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids

Paul Feig

2011

Shockingly, this was the first movie we’ve seen in the theaters since mid-February. Weird.

Kristen Wiig is absolutely fantastic– I already knew her timing was excellent because of the little bit parts she’s has in other movies I’ve liked, but that’s all I’ve seen her in before. Was she on Saturday Night Live? I haven’t seen that for quite a few years. But she really had no problem playing a lead. JP hated her character, which means she was pretty effective. Nicely done, Wiig.

It’s nice to see this kind of movie full of women instead of the usual juvenile man romp. A bit of a different perspective, and a welcome one.

But did anyone else notice the strange way some of the scenes just went on and on? It was like we were watching a rough cut of the movie. The pacing was just odd.

Guess I don’t have a ton to say here. I usually don’t about a comedy, unless it’s something really special. This one made me laugh quite a bit, which is good enough.
