You don't even need to bother with a spoiler warning if you're talking about a movie I'm posting on-- I've tried to make it clear to people that they're going to have to deal with spoilers if they're reading these posts because sometimes I'm going to want to talk about those things. If you end up veering off into another movie that I haven't posted about, a spoiler warning is probably polite. Anyway, go nuts, say whatever you want.

It's been awhile but I heard an interview on the radio with, I believe, Ms. Matthews. I was almost ready to dismiss it but became so interested in hearing about their method of "interrupting". I want to see this documentary. Good to see it has The Agenda's stamp of approval. Thanks for the review!

"...like, pay-attention-every-second-or-you’ll-leave-utterly-confused-like-”How-does-Joel-Schumacher-keep-getting-directing-jobs?”-confused-,-and-even-then-you’ll-still-be-somewhat-confused."

You should frame that and hang it on your wall. I don't really know how you'll do that, but I'm totally serious.

Good to have you chime in, Steven. I'm right with you on pretty much all of that.

I couldn't agree more with your introduction. As excited as I was for this movie, I avoided all reviews/trailers/etc. other than offering a quick glance at the Tomato-meter (because...well, I don't want to go in too hyped if it sucks). Nonetheless, I still managed to glisten that this movie was ENORMOUSLY complex -- like, pay-attention-every-second-or-you'll-leave-utterly-confused-like-"How-does-Joel-Schumacher-keep-getting-directing-jobs?"-confused-,-and-even-then-you'll-still-be-somewhat-confused. (That may be my longest hyphenate ever, and it's definitely my first hyphenate WITHIN a hyphenate.)

And...then I saw the movie and wondered what movie THEY saw. It's intriguing and layered in exactly the way a well-crafted spy story should be (and almost none are), but it makes sense, people. It's not that difficult.

This movie doesn't jump to the top of my "All Time Greatest Spy Movies" list, but I loved it. I won't belabor all of the reasons, but I will say that the setting and feel were key. Spy movies are always more interesting in the days before technology is the answer to every question, and the 70s, in particular, resonate with me. I still believe that the 70s were the best years for cinema, and this film captures some of the grain and grit I love about the movies from that era.

From the opening shot I was hooked on TTSS, and I loved every minute of it.

I just added this to my Netflix queue based on your first two sentences alone. (I stopped reading after that...just in case.) Unlike the bulk of the other 480 movies in my queue, I might actually prioritize this and watch it soon.

Thanks,
